The four little black Labs were only 7 weeks old and so sweet. They are part of the non-profit organization based in New Hampshire in Stratham called “Hero Pups”.
The organization is an all-volunteer group and provides free support dogs to eligible veterans and first responders in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts, according to HeroPups.com
These adorable support puppies are given to “veterans and first responders diagnosed with service-related psychological issues,” according to the website. Puppies really help calm owners down.
Here are some quotes from recipients of a Hero Pups via heropups.com.
My Hero Pup is like a really approachable, really furry therapist! I tell my dog things that I don’t even tell my wife.
– Jeff Prince, Chronicle
Over the past few months, our Hero Pup has been a great companion. She doesn’t judge, she doesn’t care, it’s unconditional. She doesn’t care where I’ve been or what I’ve done. She’s a gentle giant.

These comfort dogs are so important that law enforcement has a Hero Pup on their team.
Salem, New Hampshire Police Department, and Strafford Country Sheriff’s Department are the latest two teams to incorporate a Hero Pup into their ranks.
Laura Barker is the founder of Hero Pups. She launched the association after the return of her son, injured in Afghanistan. Puppies are found at animal shelters and breeders who donate young puppies. The younger they start training, the better.
Recently, the fundraising program at the Sig Sauer Experience Center in Epping, NH, raised $2,500 for Hero Pups, eager to help their neighbors down the road in Stratham.
