‘Suicide Squad’ David Ayer Teams Up With Jason Statham For ‘Beekeeper’ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: suicide squad Filmmaker David Ayer is on board to direct Jason Statham in an action movie The beekeepera hot package that Miramax will buy at the next Cannes market.

As we revealed last year, Miramax acquired the spec script from Kurt Wimmer (Salt) in a seven-figure contract and now that Ayer is on board the Halloween and man’s anger outfit can start selling it in earnest. The hope is that the package can become a franchise.

The fast-paced action-thriller, steeped in beekeeping mythology, follows the personal journey of revenge of a man who takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former agent of a powerful organization and underground known as ‘Beekeeperif.

Statham and Wimmer are set to produce with Bill Block for Miramax and Chris Long for Cedar Park Studios.

Partnership reunites Miramax with Statham after their recent outings in Guy Ritchie’s film man’s anger and the spy film from the same director Operation Fortune: Cunning War, which is due out later this year. The mainstay of the Statham stock has Meg 2: The Trench and Consumables 4 in production.
