Public safety blackout under consideration for Palos Verdes

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Southern California Edison is considering a public safety power outage for parts of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Friday, Sept. 9, according to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Due to heightened fire hazard conditions amid the ongoing heat wave in Southern California, some circuits serving the peninsula may lose power from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This planned cut could affect an additional 11,169 customers in Los Angeles County according to SCE’s website.

According to the city, SCE will notify those who may be affected, including critical care and medical base customers.
