Orange County School Board Election Results

About one in four Orange County voters turned out in the Nov. 8 election, according to unofficial election results from the Orange County Registrar of Electors.
Below is a first look at the results as of 8:05 p.m. on November 8. The Epoch Times will continue to update this developing story.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction
Incumbent Tony K. Thurmond is poised to win with 61.7% of the vote, while his opponent Lance Ray Christensen won 38.3 of the vote.
North Orange County Community College District, Administration Area 1
Barbara Dunsheath leads with 75.9% of the vote, while her opponent Blaze Bhence leads with 24.1%.
North Orange County Community College District, Administration Area 6
Jeffrey P. Brown garnered 58.8% of voter support and Jessica Rutan got 41.2%.
Coast Community College District, Trust Area 1
Jim Moreno came out with 68.2% and his opponent Russel Neal II got 31.8%.
Rancho Santiago Community College District, Trust Area 2
John R. Hanna appears to be leading with 79.2% of the vote, while Steve Rocco garnered 20.8%.
South Orange County Community College District, Trust Area 4
Terry Whitt Rydell won 54.6%, while Derek Reeve won 45.4%.
South Orange County Community College District, Trust Area 6, Short Term
Ryan Dack appears to have won with 75.2%, while Pramod Kunju won 24.8%.
Brea Olinda Unified School District, Administration Area 1
Carrie Flanders has a narrow lead with 51.2% while opponent Nicole Colon won 48.8% of the vote.
Brea Olinda Unified School District, Administration Area 4
Chris Becerra won 59.7% and Andrea Dibsy 40.3%.
Capistrano Unified School District, Trust Area 2, Short Term
Michael Parham is poised to win with 50.4% of the vote, while opponent Kira Davis follows with 33.2% and Jessica Hubbard’s 16.4%.

Gary Pritchard leads with 57.8%, James Glantz earning 33.8% and Darin Patel 8.4%.
Capistrano Unified School District, Administration Area 7
Incumbent Judy Bullockus appears to have a narrow lead with 51.1%, while challenger Jeanette Contreras has won 48.9%.
Garden Grove Unified School District, Administration Area 2
Lan Quoc Nguyen won 56% of the vote, Mark Anthony Paredes won 28.6% and Nicole Jaimes got 15.4%.
Irvine Unified School District, Administration Area 2
Katie McEwen leads with 70.3%, while Debra Hilton Kamm got 21.45% of the vote and Marlene Bronson got 8.2%.
Los Alamitos Unified School District, Administration Area 1
Marlys Davidson won 60.1% of the vote; Colin Edwards won 39.9%.
Los Alamitos Unified School District, Administration Area 3
Diana Hill appears to be leading with 61.7% and Rona Goldberg winning 38.3%.
Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Administration Area 2
Michelle Murphy won 66.9% of the vote and Danielle Mills 33.1%.
Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Administration Area 4
Lisa Pearson leads with 62%, Barbara George won 28.5% and Kristen Valle got 9.5% of the vote.
Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Administration Area 5
70.2% of voters supported incumbent Michelle Barto, while 29.8% voted for Reina Shebesta.
Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Administration Area 7
64.4 of residents voted for Ashley Anderson, while 21.2 voted for Kristen Seaburn and the remaining 14.4 voted for Vicky Rodriguez.
Orange Unified School District, Administration Area 1
Andrea Yamasaki won 56.7%, while Angela Williams got 43.3% of the vote.
Orange Unified School District, Administration Area 4
Kathy Moffat won 55.8%; Madison Miner 44.2%.
Orange Unified School District, Administration Area 5
Kristen Erickson got 63% of the vote, while her opponent Timothy Surridge won 37%.
Orange Unified School District, Administration Area 7
Rick Ledesma won 50.4% while his opponents Sean Griffin won 32% and Mike Nguyen 17.6%.
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, Administration Area 4
Karin M. Freeman has a tight lead with 44.3%, Todd Frazier is close behind with 41% and Steve Slawson is at 14.7%.
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, Administration Area 5
Carrie Buck appears to be leading with 59.1%, while Richard Ingle got 40.9%.
Rowland Unified School District, Administration Area 5
Donna Freedman got 63.6% and Kevin Hayakawa got 36.4% of the vote.
Saddleback Valley Unified School District, Trust Area 1
Greg Kunath won 42.8%, while Dan Walsh came out on top with 57.2% of the vote.
Saddleback Valley Unified School District, Administration Area 5
Barbara Shulman leads with 59.9% while Jennifer Richter follows with 40.1%.
Santa Ana Unified School District, Administration Area 4
Sylvia Iglesias has a narrow lead with 34.4%, while opponents Katelyn Aceves and Andrew Linares follow closely with 33.9% and 31.7%, respectively.
Tustin Unified School District, Administration Area 3
63.7% of the votes went to Lynn Davis, with Kelly Felton winning 36.3%.
Anaheim Unified School District, Trust Area 1
Jessica Guerrero won 41%, Billie Joe Wright follows closely with 39.4% and Linda Martinez trails with 19.6%.
Fullerton Joint Union High School, Administration Area 4
Lauren Klatzer is poised to win with 65.4% and Matthew Van Hook won 34.6%.
Huntington Beach School District, Board Member
In this election, voters vote for three of the eight candidates listed on the ballot. The candidates with the most votes were Bonnie Castrey with 21%, Duane Dishno with 20% and Diana Lee Carey with 18.4%.
Buena Park High School, Trust Area 4, Short Term
Brenda Estrada obtained 68% of the votes and Ralph Lefeber 32% of the votes.
Centralia High School, Trust Area 1
Henry Charoen led with 67.5%, while Adan Guzman gained 6.6% and Robert Alexander 26%.
Cypress School District, Trust Area B
Jon Peat won 46.7% and Troy Tanaka 53.3%.
Cypress School District, Administration Area C
Sandra Lee received 69.8% of the vote, while Kyle Chang obtained 30.2%.
Fountain Valley School District, Board Member
In this election, voters vote for three of the eight candidates listed on the ballot. The candidates with the most overall votes were Sandra Crandall with 21.7%, Dennis Cole with 16.7% and Megan Irvine with 16.5%.
Fullerton School District, Administration Area 4
Leading is Ruthi Hanchett at 54%, followed by Lisa Wozab at 33.3% and Rudy Garcia at 12.7%.
Huntington Beach City School District, Administration Area 4
Autumn Digiovanni gained 36.6% and Diana Marks leads with 63.4%.
Huntington Beach City School District, Administration Area 5
Julie Norton won 35.8% while Paul Morrow is close to winning with 64.2%.
La Habra City School District, Board Member
In this election, voters choose three of the eight candidates listed on the ballot. Those with the most votes were Adan Rogers with 25.7%, Cynthia Aguirre with 24.4% and Emily Pruitt with 19.2%.
Lowell Joint School District, Administration Area 2
Kathi Lundstrom received 47.8% of the vote and Christine Berg 52.2%.
Lowell Joint School District, Administration Area 4
Karen Shaw got 53.6% of the vote, while opponent Esther Evangelista got 46.4%.
Ocean View School District, Board Member
In this election, voters vote for three of the eight candidates listed on the ballot. The candidates with the most overall votes were Patricia Singer with 24.1%, Jack Souders with 23.2% and John Briscoe with 20.6%.
Savanna School District, Trust Zone 2
Elizabeth Winkler leads with 55.2%, while Joyce Burdette got 44.8%.
Measure G: Measure Capistrano Unified Bond
The measure asked voters whether the Capistrano Unified School District should post a $144 million bond to fix schools in Aliso Viejo. To pay the bond, the owners of Aliso Viejo would have to pay $44 for every $100,000 of their property’s appraised value for the next 30 years.
It seems to pass narrowly, with 51.2% YES votes and 48.8% NO votes.
Measure H: Santa Ana Unified Board Member Term Limits
The move would limit Santa Ana Unified School Board trustees to three four-year terms and bar them from serving again after that time has elapsed. Under current district policy, there are no term limits for school board members.
Measure H is overwhelmingly on the verge of being adopted, with 86.7% YES votes and 13.3% NO votes.
